AYMA was formed to promote YERBA MATE in the US in its various forms, being most well-known for the traditional way of drinking mate with the metal straw or “bombilla” in the gore or “mate”. However, there are other ways to enjoy YERBA MATE, such as drinking it by infusing the yerba mate leaves.
There are communities in the US where mate is already popular, obviously those with roots in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay, where drinking mate is an everyday custom and as common as drinking coffee or tea.
We want to reach those who are not familiar with Yerba Mate and perhaps the first step would be to teach them that “mate” is pronounced, “mah-te”.
Another objective of our association aside from performing scientific research regarding Yerba Mate as a superfood, and a very important issue to us, is to keep Yerba Mate products sold in the US true to its roots of being non-GMO, free of chemicals, and genuine in the origin, production, and quality standards.
And last, but not least, some of the health benefits of Yerba Mate include, but are not limited to:
- A balanced energy boost; Mate has equal amounts of caffeine as coffee but without the jittery side effects.
- Improved mental function.
- It is a nutritional powerhouse as it contains as many antioxidants and 15 more amino acids than green tea does.
- Immune system booster.
- Strengthens bones.
- Supports a healthy heart.
- Promotes hydration.
